October 2011, the brand was founded by the 29-year-old as she loves everything
vintage, from clothes to jewellery. As a fan of chunky statement pieces,
Samantha decided to start this business venture when she had trouble looking
for a piece to match her vintage outfit.
With her brand,
she hopes to bring back the true value of vintage jewellery by educating others
and unveiling the history behind each piece. Her brand’s name is incredibly
eye-catching, just like her pieces.
She explains
that she chose the word “opulent” since it refers to all things rich and
luxurious, like the gold and sparkly rhinestones, while the word “hippo”
represents Samantha and her huge ambition for vintage costume jewellery.
